Bob Newland

Bob Newland
Owner
bob@m-nins.com

Bob Newland began his career in insurance fresh out of Rutgers University in 1984, with the Prudential Insurance Company of America. After only a short time with the company, he was promoted to Sales Manager and placed in charge of an eight man staff. Working for Prudential, Bob obtained his Life and Health Insurance license, as well as his Property, Casualty and Investment licenses. He gained experience working with clients and managing a staff. However, he grew tired of being bound to selling only one company’s products. He realized the benefits of the independent agency system and joined the Lubsen & McPherson Agency in 1990 as a producer. When Geoff Lubsen retired in 1996, Bob assumed an office manager position for Jim McPherson and became a partner in the agency in June of 2004. In July of 2010, Jim retired and Bob purchased his interest in the business. Bob credits Jim McPherson with instilling in him a strong sense of responsibility to serve the community and help others. Bob has served on several boards over the years and is the past treasurer of the Flemington Elks Lodge, the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Hunterdon & Warren Counties and the Flemington Rotary Club. Bob and his loving wife, Traci are long-time residents of Kingwood Township and have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Bob is an avid outdoorsman having traveled the world to hunt and fish. He has served on the board of directors of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Safari Club International for several years and in July of 2021 was elected President. He also enjoys most sports, especially baseball, and in 2014 sponsored and participated on a team that won the SAFE in Hunterdon Charity Softball Tournament at Diamond Nation.

The agency’s newest employee who joined our staff in April of 2021 is Janice Walker. She relocated from Louisiana to New Jersey in 2020 and obtained her property and casualty license in record time. Janice joined the agency because she loved the idea of representing multiple companies so that she can help others and work to find her customers the best rate possible. Prior to joining the agency Janice honed her people’s skills in the hospitality field. She currently resides in Glen Gardner with her two children. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, and exploring the beauty of New Jersey with her kids.

Luke the Labrador

In Memoriam:
Luke the Labrador

2007 - 2021

For seven years or so, Luke greeted customers, venders and company reps at the door. His soft deep bark and wagging tail was a welcoming everyone enjoyed.  He took his job very seriously and made anyone who came in feel at least a little at home.  Regular visitors like the mailman and some company people brought him treats at each visit and in no time became his best friend. He quickly became the face of our agency. You may have seen his smile on Shop Rite receipts or on the banner at the Dvoor Farm Sunday market. Luke is gone but will never be forgotten and will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.

When Luke started getting up there in years, he needed an assistant. Boone joined the agency in 2020. He would fill in so Luke could take some days off and enjoy a semi-retirement at home.  He can never replace our Luke (noone could) but he takes his job just as seriously.  Don’t mind his obnoxiously loud bark. He is as harmless as a housefly but likes to try to make up for his small size with a large voice. Yes, he likes treats too.

Wave

So last summer our family was vacationing and our son is stopped by the police for not having his headlights on. He searches but doesn't have his insurance card. The officer agrees to let him bring it to the station the next day. THE NEXT DAY? We email Bob, who emails a copy of the insurance card to our son's phone. We print it, show it and Bob saves the day. This summer our son is driving to college with my husband. Great father/son trip to Montana. Once again our son doesn't have his card. Bob repeats the email and sends a paper card to our son's rental in MONTANA. All within days' time. No matter when we call, or write or email Bob and his staff is there to help us get out of a prickly situation. And save us the ticket points and fine as well. We appreciate all they do to make our lives a little easier.
